Via Norte Restaurant - Stunning Portuguese Food - Toronto
It's July. A perfect time to head out an explore restaurants during the 2 weeks of Toronto's Summerlicious food event. During Summerlicious, three-course prix fixe lunch and dinner menus are served up at exceptional prices at more than 200 of Toronto's restaurants.
I called up my Marathon running buddy, Mark, and cycled over to Via Norte Restaurant to check out their upscale Portuguese menu. We started with a nice bottle of white wine from the Douro region of Portugal. Ahh...I think we're going to enjoy this!
We both opted for some great fish dishes. We started with grilled fillet of sardines with charred peppers, grilled pineapple, mushrooms, topped with onion confit. It was spectacular! The pineapple and onion gave the grilled sardines a wonderful freshness.
As our main, we opted for the pan seared skate with potatoes and broccolini. Wow! We were in heaven.
Finally for dessert we went for the raspberry sorbet. A tart, refreshing final to our prix fixe menu.
Espresso? Don't mind if we do!

We really wanted to linger and soak in the stylish atmosphere at this little gem in Toronto's little Portugal neighbourhood. We will be back.
The Verdict
We love Summerlicious for the opportunity to try great restaurants at reasonable prices. We also had an amazing summer afternoon at Via Norte Restaurant. We will definitely be back!
Also check out Winterlicious which runs 2 weeks in January to February.
